Our Story

Future Ancestors Alliance was founded to bring technology and culture together under Indigenous leadership.

Our mission is to build digital sovereignty — empowering communities to define how technology serves them. FAA is built on three pillars: Building Capacity, Community Governance, and a Language & Cultural Platform that protects and connects Indigenous knowledge.

We train youth as Future Ancestors Protectors — equipping them with technical skills to create opportunities from their villages while supporting their families and preserving their culture. Alongside elders and teachers, we’re growing a development team and building capacity across entire communities.
Together, we’re developing community-led systems that respect consent, protect data, and ensure our languages and stories remain in our hands.
Our ancestors were master toolmakers. The tools are different now, but the purpose is the same: to protect our culture, strengthen our people, and bring our voices forward into the future.lture, strengthen our connections, and carry our heritage proudly into the next generation.

Who is FAA?

Nathan Bennet

Hi, my name is Nathan Bennett. I’m a Haida technologist from the Pacific Northwest and founder of Future Ancestors Alliance. I began my career over 22 years ago in the U.S. Air Force and have since worked across systems, networking, software engineering, and project management in industries spanning defense, healthcare, and big tech. Through FAA, I’m focused on bringing that experience home—to preserve Indigenous languages, strengthen cultural sovereignty, and empower future generations through technology.

Ben Weimer

Hi there! My name is Ben Weimer and I live (and grew up in) Seattle, WA. I come from a diverse background across multiple industries. Most recently, I helped found an Accessible Technology for the Blind company that made devices to help low vision and blind individuals navigate the world. With a MA in Disability Studies and over 4 years doing Project Management in the Tech for Good space Future Ancestor's Alliance is a great next step.

Taylor Natkong

Hi! My name is Taylor Natkong, and I was raised in Hydaburg, AK. I've worked in a mix of tech and childcare for the majority of my career, with a focus on expanding education accessibility for Indigenous peoples. This personal mission has led me to Future Ancestors Alliance, allowing me to use all my skills for the betterment of my people.
